A. General Terms and Conditions

A1. About these terms

When you complete your Booking on, you accept these Terms and any other terms that you’re provided with during the booking process.

It is your responsibility to read and understand these terms prior to booking a bed/room.

If anything in these Terms is (or becomes) invalid or, unenforceable:

• it will still be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law,
• you will still be bound by everything else in the Terms.

These Terms are laid out like this:

• Section A: general terms.
• Section B: specific terms, for Group Reservations.
• If there’s any mismatch between general and specific terms, the specific terms will apply.

A2. Prices

When you make a reservation, you agree to pay the cost of your stay, including any charges and taxes that may apply.

The city tax is not included in the rate. VAT is included.

Obvious errors and misprints are not binding. For example: if you book a night in a double room that was mistakenly offered for €1, we may simply cancel that Booking.

A3. Touristic Tax

Since 1st March 2018, anyone with 13 years or more, staying in Porto, pays 2€ tax per person/per night, up to a maximum of 7 (seven) consecutive nights per person per stay.

A4. Reservation and Payment

To book a stay on the Best Guest Hostel website you always need a credit card, though your reservation is not paid when you do the reservation. The insertion of the credit card data is only to guarantee your reservation.

Payment is made at check-in, only in cash.

Whenever Best Guest Hostel considers it necessary, we may request payment in advance:

• of the amount of the first night, or
• the total amount of the reservation.

Pre-payment is done by bank transfer only.

If the pre-payment deadline isn’t respected, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.

A5. Deposit

A cash deposit of 5€ per person is required as a deposit, which will be returned exclusively in cash at check-out if there are no damages.

The loss of the key or any damage caused by inappropriate behavior during the stay entails the loss of the key deposit, but depending on the seriousness of the matter, the sanction may be higher.

A6. Cancellation Policy

You may cancel free of charge until 48 hours before the arrival date.

You will be charged the first night price of your reservation if you cancel in the 48 hours before arrival.

A7. Modify or Cancel a Booking

You can use the link in the confirmation email to modify or cancel you booking.

If you want to cancel a reservation, see the Cancellation Policy (A6) above.

A8. Check-in

You can check-in from 15:00, but you can leave your bags anytime in the hostel and enjoy the city. If the room is available earlier, we will try to advance the entrance.

A valid passport or a government-issued identity card with a photo is mandatory to check in.

A9. Check-out

You can check-out until 11:30, but you can leave your bags in the hostel and pick them up later.

Please inform reception if you wish to extend your stay. Extensions will be subject to availability and the rate at the time of the extension.

A10. Breakfast

Buffet breakfast starts at 07:00 and ends at 11:00.

A11. Keycard – assignment, loss, and/or damage

Upon check-in, the guest receives the room keycard, which must be returned at the check-out.

The keycard gives access to the room and to the personal locker (only in dormitories).

A 5€ charge applies for each keycard that is damaged or misplaced.

A12. Locker

The dormitories are equipped with lockers.

A13. Use of rooms and common areas

Rest hours between 22:00 and 09:00 must be respected by making as little noise as possible.

A14. Guest’s Belongings and Safety

Due to safety reasons, it is not allowed to bring people who are not staying at the hostel into the rooms.

The hostel won’t take responsibility for the loss, damage, or theft of money, jewelry, or other valuables items left in the rooms.

Maintain the security of the accommodation and its contents during your stay. So don’t, for example, leave the room door and locker unlocked.

A15. Towels

You can rent towels for 1€.

All the private rooms have 1 towel/pax included.

A16. Hairdryer

A free hairdryer is available in each bathroom.

A17. Bedding

The hostel provides all the bedding.

A18. Non-Smoking

The Best Guest Hostel is a non-smoking establishment.

In case of transgression, the guest shall have to leave the premises immediately and no money will be refunded.

A19. Prohibitions

All types of parties, loud music or noises that may disturb other guests are prohibited.

It is not permitted to walk shirtless, barefoot, in pyjamas or swimwear in common areas.

It is forbidden to smoke and consumes drugs inside the hostel.

A20. Breakage/damages to the Hostel

The guest will have to pay for any damage caused by inappropriate behavior during the stay.

A21. Admission Criteria

All reservations are subject to availability and the Best Guest Hostel is entitled to decline any reservation if not seen fit.

A22. Underage Guests

Guests traveling with children under the age of 18, have to book a private room or full dorm room to be used only by the child and family or group of people.

Children cannot share dorms with strangers.

Children under 12 years old are not accepted at the hostel.

A23. Maximum length of stay

We do not accept reservations for stays over 14 nights.

A24. Pets

Pets are not allowed in the hostel.

A25. Lift

It’s a historic building, it has no lift.

A26. Help and advice

If you have any questions related to your booking, just contact us.

You can help us help you as quickly as possible by providing:

• your reservation confirmation number and contact details,
• a summary of the situation you need assistance with, including how you’d like us to help you.

Whatever the issue, we’ll try to assist you, and will do what we can to help you.

For example: If you want to be in the same room with your friends, but you have booked separately, we’ll do everything possible to accommodate you in the same room.

B. Group Reservations Terms and Conditions

B1. Group Reservation definition

– A reservation with ten (10) or more guests is considered a Group Reservation.

– A Group reservation must be made exclusively by email:

– Group reservations are only accepted for a minimum of three (3) nights.

B2. Payment

It’s required a payment of 50% of the total pay due of the reservation by wire transfer (only after the confirmation of the transfer will the reservation be confirmed).

The payment of the other half has to be made up to 7 days before the check-in date and with a consequent confirmation document.

If payment deadlines are not respected, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.

B3. Deposit

A deposit of €150/group is required at check-in, paid by the person in charge of the group. The deposit will be paid in cash. At check-out, the deposit will be refunded in cash, after all cards/keys have been handed in and the accommodation has been inspected and found not to be damaged. Missing cards: 5€ per card will be deducted.

B4. Cancellation Policy

In case of a cancelation, a partial or total modification of the reservation, the amount paid is non-refundable.

B5. Guest data

At least one week before the check-in date, it is necessary to send the hostel a list with the details of each member of the group.

B6. Breakfast

Not included. If you want breakfast included, please ask for a rate with breakfast when making the reservation request. (Bread, cereals, butter, chocolate, jams, milk, veggie drink, cheese, coffee, tea, orange juice).

B7. Towels

Not included in dorm rooms. In private rooms, 1 towel/pax is included. You can rent towels for 1 euro/unit.
